6th April 2009 - Photos from Day 3 assembly area
Officials have reported great conditions during final visits to the Day 2 and Day 3 areas before the competition,

1st April 2009 - Start times available
The start times for the indivdiual races are now available here.
30th March 2009 - Trophy return
Just a reminder to all the winners of trophies at JK 2008 to ensure they have
informed Peter Firth ASAP how they plan to return the trophies in time for JK 2009
(email firth@riscos.org or phone 0191 2371176 between 9:30am and 9:30pm).
Please note this includes individual trophies and relay trophies. A list of trophies
that are currently unaccounted for can be found here.
25th March 2009 - Final Details available
The final details are now available for download here.
23rd March 2009 - Special offer on St. Cuthbert's Way maps
The St. Cuthbert's Way is a historic route that goes via many interesting abbeys.
St Cuthbert's Way passes through the JK Day 2 Assembly field and across the Day 3 map.
The event organisers have secured for you a special deal on the famous HARVEY map of

11th March 2009 - JK 2009 T-shirts available to purchase
JK 2009 T-shirts are now available to purchase through
Lakes Runner.
4th March 2009 - Previous maps available
Previous maps of the areas for Days 2, 3 & 4 are now available on the
website here.
3rd March 2009 - English Orienteering Council AGM
The English Orienteering Council (EOC) Annual General Meeting will take place
on Friday 10th April 2009 at Royal Marines Reserve Tyne, Anzio House, Quayside,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE6 1BU starting at 5:00pm (venue by permission of RMR Tyne's
Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel P H Sampson Royal Marines).
As the venue is a military site, a list of attendees is a security requirement.
Please let Chris Morris, the EOC Secretary know if you will be attending,
by emailing secretary@orienteeringengland.org.uk
with your British Orienteering membership number and an email address, by no later
than 1st April 2009. Attendance will not be possible without these details.
2nd March 2009 - Version 8/9 SI-Cards can be used
Despite the pre-event publicity to the contrary, Version 8/9 SI-Cards
(identified as those with numbers over 1,000,000) can be used during the weekend.
SPORTident have kindly provided the additional new style boxes that are
required to work with these cards.
27th Feb 2009 - Lakes Runner to produce JK 2009 T-shirt
Lakes Runner will be producing a JK 2009 T-shirt. It will be a short-sleeved
shirt from CRAFT, made from a lightweight wicking material, in red, with the JK 2009
logo on the chest and the Lakes Runner logo on the sleeve. See
here for the design. The shirts will be available to
order online from 15th March 2009 at Lakes Runner
and also available to buy from their stand at the races.
18th Feb 2009 - JK 2009 2nd closing date approaches (final closing date for elites)
Orienteers wishing to take part in JK 2009 are reminded that Saturday 28th
February is the second cheap closing date. The final closing date is Friday 20th March.
Saturday 28th February is also the final closing date for elite entries, due
to the need to arrange seeding and start lists. Elite entries will NOT be accepted
after this time.
3rd Feb 2009 - Lakes Runner trading at JK 2009
As well as the usual traders such as Wilfs, Ultrasport, Compass Point,
JK 2009 will also be attended by Lakes Runner.
Lakes Runner are a specialist running shop, part owned by British orienteering legend
Martin Bagness (silver medal, World Champs Relay 1993). They sell equipment and
technical clothing ideal for orienteers and fell runners, as well has incorporating
a climbing shop Lakes Climber.
Visit their stall at JK 2009! You can also drop into their shop located in
Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District, or shop online at
www.lakesrunner.com.

2nd Jan 2009 - VHI selection races
Days 2 & 3 of the JK have been declared as selection races for the Veteran
Home International. The VHIs take place on 14-15th Nov 2009, hosted by EMOA.
The other selection races are:
- Southern Champs/ NE, Burnham Beeches (HH) - 22nd Feb 2009
- Northern Champs, Graythwaite (LOC) - 19th April 2009
- National Event, New Beechenhurst (BOK) - 3rd May 2009

12th Dec 2008 - Day 1 start times
For those wishing to plan their travel and accomodation, we can say that
start times for the sprint on Day 1 are expected to be 11:30am - 3:30pm.
Competitors can choose E/M/L entries when making their entry online.
11th Dec 2008 - Colour coded fees
There was a mistake in the fee table for colour coded courses. The prices
are £6.00 for seniors and £3.00 for juniors up until the final
closing date. Entry on the day is possible, although it is subject to map
availability, and pre-entry online is encouraged. Anyone who has already entered
online and paid the previous (higher) fees will contacted by the organisers
in due course to arrange a refund of the difference.
10th Dec 2008 - Dogs
We regret to have to announce that there must
be NO DOGS (even in parking fields) on Days 2, 3 & 4.
This is prime sheep country and lambing time. No
matter how well controlled you dog is, we cannot run
the risk of them disturbing nearby animals, on which the
landowners depend for their livelihoods. Parking officials
will turn away vehicles with dogs.
